Driving 66 in an Elise Coast to Coast

Hello All.. new to the forum,

I am currently driving from Providence Rhode Island to Malibu California in my 05 Elise!

Right now I am in Oaklahoma City, OK. It has been quite a journey. Learned a lot about the car-- and our culture! Had to hand a couple of see ya's on the twisty's through Missouri to muscle car guys. Also burned up my clutch...

This is the best touring ride I have ever had, after the first day, ten-to -twelve hour days no prob.

If anybody wants to talk about the ride or has any questions I will be checking in everyday to spill the beans about which areas to avoid in a Elise on the 66 (bumpy, etc).

I will be scheduling a new clutch in AZ hopefully for a quick changout...

All the best, and keep the bugs off your hood and the bears off your back.

-m
(force fed, touring, SS tuned headers)

(also I want to do a lighter flywheel, clutch if anyone has some advise).

Almost finished

Trip is going well, I just dropped off my car to Scottsdale Lotus to get a new clutch put in. I am going to upgrade it to a HP version.

The trip was a blast, lots of cool places to see-- makes you really wonder how it was back then. From the cement dinos to the neon road signs.

With the Lotus I always had a friend or kid coming up to talk about it-- always heard about people seeing it in this magazine or something. Lots of fun.

The 66 has some MAJOR bad spots. It is great in an Elise-- but always have a backup plan if you should hit an area and need to retreat. Overall I either read prior to avoiding certain areas or was told while on the road.

Great trip so far-- I will be in Cali next week!!

All the best,
-m
