Unhappy

Sorry, But true. Late Friday Lotus increased the U.S. Elise price $2060. They also recently upped the delivery charge by $75. This adds $2135 to their earlier $945 price hike. Many very upset people are discussing this on the ELISETALK forum......Art.

Yup, saw that thread on Elisetalk. Actually, saw the flurry of irate threads on the matter. Kinda surprised to not see it here, so was checking to see if it's just an ugly rumor in one forum.

I'll know for sure Monday how this affects my car slated for delivery April/May. If my car is affected, which it seems it most likely will be, I'm taking my deposit back and putting it somewhere else. I'm beginning to feel like a fool that followed a carrot on a string through two price increases.

I don't think sports cars are flying out of showrooms in our area ( Michigan-Ohio) due to the cold and snow. This will all change in a couple of months. If you make some quick phone calls Monday , and make it clear that you are a serious buyer, you could proably pick-up a new Elise at a price below the new increase.

Everything about dealing with my Lotus Dealer, Auto Europe in Birmingham Michigan, has been a positive experience. You might try starting with them, in the past they have had a couple of extra cars due to customers cancelling for financial reasons.

I got my car shortly after the first increase, so Lotus ONLY bit me in the A$$ once. Auto Europe has let me drive several cars both on the street and on the track.........it really is like no other car under $100,000......a race car with a license plate!

Good Luck!
