Ordering an Elise from Iraq

I am an infantry officer currently stationed in central Iraq, and I have an unusual question for you Lotus Elise lovers.

I have 8 months left to my tour here, and I am absolutely in love with the Elise. I have been avidly following your reviews and postings, and have read everything I could find about the Elise on the internet.

I have decided that when I make it out of here, a British Racing Green Elise with a hard top and touring package is going to be my gift to myself, and I want to order one so that it is available for me when I return home.

Does anyone currently know what the lead time is on an Elise? How far out in advance of my return home should I place the order, so that it waiting for me when I get home? Can anyone recommend a good dealership in the Northeast or Florida that would be able to handle an unusual (from Iraq) transaction such as this one?

Thanks!

1LT Adam

1LT,

There's not really much of a lead time anymore, unless you want an unusual combo.

The 2006 models should start being delivered in a few months, so the initial rush will over when you get back home. The orders that are being taken right now are for winter deliveries.

I would check with dealers about 2-3 months before you head home and place your order then.

Keep up the great work!

V/R,

dk

Adam:

First of all THANK YOU for the great job you guys are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan. No matter how much we say, it, we can't say thanks enough to you guys. Are you 101st? My dad-in-law was 36 years in, retiring after Desert Storm with The Screaming Eagles.

You can pick up a green Elise specd out as you want at several dealers. Most delaers actually have a bit of inventory now that he first year deliveries are done.

Also you may want to join Lotus Ltd. (www.LotusCarClub.org) - North America's Largest Lotus Car Club.

Stay safe!
