Fox valley Chicago
I test drove the Elise on Sat. 7-24-04 at Fox Valley near Chicago and am still smiling !! What a great car! This thing handles like crazy and actually rides much better than the car mags would have you believe.
They got in 6 cars, but one they have is from a Florida auction and is IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE !! for the sum of $56K. It's blue with blue interior, but I just couldn't pull the trigger on $13K over invoice. Maybe one of you can-- it's a hot car and I bet it would be worth the x-tra $ to get one of the first ones!
I'll have to wait til my #85 rolls in which they thought might be sometime in 3-05.

not me
Part of me wants one asap, another part says my (at least) 18 month wait (# 62 at Rothrock) from now says I'll be getting a car that hopefully will have some of the inevitable bugs worked out that are part and parcel of the first run cars.

I agree. The car I drove this past Saturday had no turn signals, as well as a nasty rattle coming from one of the belly pans under the car. Loved the car but I think I'll wait.

Me either
I don't mind the wait, gives me more time to make an educated decision.
If I wanted to pay 13K over, I'll spend that money on some hot used car while I'm waiting
Edit:
mslpilot I think they have a blue with black interior

They also have a BRG but that one has already 50 miles on it. and it's their demo car.

Didn't noticed the wheels, and you are right, they don't look like a 2005 Fed Elise.
Strange since the VIN # matches the 2005 Fed Elise
I've found a link to that type of wheel in the image gallery at:
http://www.puresportscar.com/gallery...cat=516&page=2
Maybe is not a picture of the actual car they are selling, or they changed the wheels.

or is it a compact lock?

No Idea,
I don't know where that picture comes from. Mason probably knows.
I did notice the bolt missing too, but maybe they were changing the wheels to take pictures of the different wheel styles. I bet they didn't deliver a car without the bolt.

The picture of the blue is file. It can be seen as the 7th one on this page of the Lotus UK site: http://www.lotuscars.co.uk/template....llery&start=21
even the building in the background is the same. This picture has been around months before the Elise hit our shores.

So, you drove my car Darren???
I did get my Lotus Elise from Fox Valley Motorcars. It's Blue and loaded with all the options and about the same price as you were quoted. It's been garaged for the last month and I can't wait to get it out again. I'll post some pictures sometime soon if I can.
Every time I get into the car it is a blast to drive. It is almost comical on how people gather around the car wherever I go. When I drive, people will give me a thumbs up when passing and whenever I stop to get gas, most everyone at the pumps will come over to have a look and talk. The first week I had it, I probably had 10 girls from work ask me to take them for a ride.
Again, it is a blast to drive

Fox Valley
FYI-
I stopped in at Fox Valley Motor Cars last night to drop off the balance of my deposite.
They have a number of cars in stock (two orange, one purple, one blue, one red, one black, and possibly more). They're asking $6000 over sticker, but indicated they'd settle for less (my salesman gave me a number which I won't quote, but if we weren't in the middle of a Chicago winter, I'd have jumped on it).
Note I'm not affiliated with them in any capacity other than customer.
In any case, I'm about 60 on the list currently and should have my car by June/July.
They did indicate that Lotus has promissed them about 7 cars per month, but shipped them 11 last month. They also said they're having a number of people back out of their orders on/prior to delivery (it seems that over the 1-2 year time frame that these orders have been open, things happen- kids, divorce, etc).
I'm told that the owners of the roughly 75+ cars they've delivered to date are very happy ;-)
