Thumbs up The Correct Toyota Oil Filter

Just went to my neighborhood Toyota Dealer to pick up Oil filters for my Elise.

The first time i went in to buy them they gave me the wrong size, which was (YZZA2) this filter from what they said will fit but not made for the 2ZZ-GE Toyota Celica GT-S 1.8. It's too small.

I went back to get the right size which is (YZZA1) This filter is a bit larger and made just for the 2ZZ-GE Toyota Celica GT-S 1.8 engin.

There are a number of alternative filters from other cars that will work on the car too. I know all about the little filter you mentioned..I bought one by accident...it's the size of a large thimble!

Toyota filters are made by Puralator. They are the Pure-One Filters from what I've heard on toyota sites. My suggestion would be a Mobil 1 or an Amsoil filter... Or a Pure-One if you like stock.

yah the stock filter is a great filter, if you cute one open and cut open anything else you'll see its about the same if not better.

I've opend several filters infact everytime I get a chance to open a different one I do. I've found that the higher end Fram filters are designed similar to the OEM filter but of course filter alittle better, K&N filters again use the same design but less pleets(sp?) however their material filters better, Mobile 1 looks just like a stock one does. I have yet to open a toyota filter but i can already guess what it looks like since GM and Mitsubishi's designs are about the same. OEM tends to use alot more pleets then after market filters and some use a metal frame inside the filter where as some use paper or something of a cardboard material. I wish I still had the display I made for work, too bad they trashed it when the DM said they couldn't have it...

just my 2 cents

How dose it compair to the Elise filter in size, cost and guts? The Elise run more oil with the duel oil coolers up front it might have a even bigger filter.

Would be cool, if someone had the x-references for the Mobil-1 and other premiums.

GGLC website has a Part Interchange list for the Elise. Please email the GGLC web editor if you find any new parts cross refs.

www.gglotus.org then follow links to "PARTS" and "Elise". There's at least 6-8 other oil filters listed for the Fed Elise/111R engine.

The TRD-USA filter is cosmetically similar to a Mobil 1. I have used them for several years in a 2zz engine
