Lifting the Elise for an (Oil Change)???

I plan on changing the oil and filter on my own this time, instead of taking it to the Lambo dealer.

Also where is the filter located?
Where do i lift the car with a jack and where do i place the jack stands to change the oil?

Thanks!

There are better pictures than any written description you'd find here in the manual.

That said, if you do a search here or on Elisetalk.com you'll find more discussion on the subject than you probably care to know.

I just changed my own oil yesterday. I used a set of ramps and it couldn't have been easier! The most time consuming part of the job was taking the access panel off (13 bolts).

I'd highly recommend the quick release kit for the undertray and diffuser, put it on mine, took about an hour, after that, you can drop both trays in five minutes:

For an oil change you need no jacks, or jack stands. You only need to remove the under engine panel. After backing the car up onto Rhino ramps. Don't worry the "drain" is just fine due to the shape of the oil pan. If you use a five sixteenths / 8 mm nut driver. This looks like a socket permanently attached to a screw driver handle. That takes care of all the bolts except the two big ones. No real surprises.

ok, I understand what needs to be done to take 'em off but when you put the 8mm nuts back on, what is the ft-lbs you should use for these 8mm nuts? They don't feel like they will take too much torque.

I think the two big ones are 13mm and I think the torque value should be 22Nm so that's 16.2 ft-lbs right?

For the 8mm head nuts, I just use a cordless screwdriver with a socket adapter. I screw them down until the screwdriver reaches its torque limit. The cordless screwdriver's specification says that it is a 2.8 Nm maximum torque, which is a moderate hand tightness for a standard screwdriver.

Thanks ChrisH!! That's the answer I was looking for. I just wanted to check this with someone else about these 8mm nuts.
