nitros
It seems as if adding a super charger or turbo is not possible because of space restrictions. I think adding nitros would be a great addition and will leave no doubt when street racing M3's and vetts, and at a cost around $800 with little weight addition it seems like a no brainer except with the chance of early engine fatigue. Any thoughts on the subject speed freeks

I figure that the Elise has got to be a pretty poor choice for street racing. It's just not designed with straight-line racing in mind. And adding nitrous isn't very useful for a road course car.
There's got to be a lot more straight-line bang for the buck to be found elsewhere.

Nitrous
You could add nitrous to your kit, however my only concern is that be cause lotus did tune the engine, I'm not sure how much flexibility there is in the fuel curve like the stock 2zz. As long as you do a dry kit, I don't believe you'll have any problems with just slapping a kit on. most stock engines can handle 5-6 psi before you need to do some work.

I had a friend that added Nitrous to his 2000 Celica GTS - on slicks he got the car to do 12.6 @ 110 mph... he was getting 232whp and 165wtor. The same Nitrous setup on an Elise would push it into the 11's... probably using LSS tires...
Not a track day option at all - but I guess it could be fun on the street to a limited degree.
Personally I've NEVER had a good Nitrous experience.

Yikes
Never use a dry kit! You are begging for problems by adding o2 and no additional fuel, can you say lean mixture!

A 75 shot in an Elise is a hoot-n-a-holler
It's not appropriate for auto-x, but I'm running a 75 shot (wet) in my Elise. 14 bottles so far and no issues. In fact, the engine seems to run smoother after a good session. In a lot of ways, this isn't the right kind of car for N2O, but man, what a blast! I installed the system myself, and had a custom faux-subwoofer setup installed by a local stereo shop.

Check out Sector111 and Blackwatch Racing, both of which are offering SC kits for the Elise. Sector111 has been shipping for a couple of months and is running in the mid $5k range. The Blackwatch is about to ship with slightly more power and will be priced just under $5k.
Nitrous is an awful idea for this car. And, like was mentioned above, this car is not designed for street racing. You are better off looking to a Stang or 350Z for that type of driving.
The Elise is the best sports car in America, period. It is not a pony or muscle car.

nitrous is fine if you use a WET shot, DRY shots are for V8 american cars. I sprayed 75 and 100 shot on my MR2 turbo with no problems I sprayed and prayed in every gear ;). I still have a nitrous kit I was going to install on my s2000, then decided to install on my supra tt, but just held off again. If I do go with an Elise in Jan I will be considering the nitrous, because the 2zz loves nitrous, you just might want to get it on the dyno and add/subtract some timing from the lotus computer.
