Supercharging

A little net search revealed photos of Blitz Japan's Supercharger and intercooler for the 2zz-ge and further a road test of installation on a US Celica with no mods to compression. Kit purportedly includes remapped computer, new oil pan etc. and seems destined for the US market.

Anyone with thoughts on application to the Elise. Turbo & High tech magazine on-line reviewed the system. I think it was titled "Celica, stage III"

I assume you would have to custom fabricate plumbing and maybe some ducting/body work to accomodate the intercooler. Even if you were handy welding tubes and with glass fiber, is there anyspace to mount the blower that isn't spoken for?

I'm not an expert on this but technical specifications usually are important to keep in mind. You state that the kit comes with an remapped engine control which may be fine for the Celica but Lotus has already remapped the engine control system for the Elise to obtain better performance. If they made any other changes then the remapping for the turbo may be incompatible.

Supercharging/Turbos

Dave, you raise a good point. Having been through all this with a turbo supra that I raced, it certainly puts all the tuning/tweaking responsibility on the end user. Perhaps I should just be content throwing the Elise through the turns, keeping the warranty intact and letting my K3 gsxr appease my speed addiction. Though I noted in another thread last night that someone was already working on a sorted turbo system. ;)

by the looks of the engine compartment, it looks like a centrifugal sc would fit. its gonna need a driveshaft for the sc, no big deal. you only get max boost at redline, thus everyday reliability would be better. keep boost at 5lbs, add fuel, tune and its gravy. the s2000 w/centr. sc(boosting 7 lbs with an aftercooler) is a beast above 4k rpm. the elise's close ratio trans will keep the rpms in the vvtl-i range, plus boost! +75 peak hp @ the crank with as much torque will smoke just about anything on the road!
