Short throw shifter.
Since the Elise has the exact same tranny as the Celica GTS, will TWM be making a shor throw shifter for the Elise? I have this TWM short throw shifter in my GTS right now and it is the best $120 I have spent on my car.

I would be surprised if it fit. I think the Elise linkage is different than the Toyota one.

short throw shifter
I would have to agree. After seeing the shifter in the lotus, I seriously doubt that a Celica short throw shifter would fit in its place. The Lotus seems to have used a more narrow mount than the Celica.

Both of you are answering a question he never asked.
He didn't ask if the Celica short throw shifter would fit the Elise, he asked whether TWM would be making one for the Elise.

Short Already
The throw is already shorter then a GTS, I drove an elise for the first time this weekend, drove a GTS in June so I may be a little off but I would say it is shorter, but I could be wrong...

I drove my dealer's demo this week--lots of fun--only 70 miles on the clock and no rpm restrictions for either the salesman or me :D . But one of the shorcomings of the car for me is the long shift throws. Yes, there have been vast improvements in the shifter since the days of the S1 and S2 Elise models which I have driven in the UK, but the feel of the shifter is still nothing like you experience with a good, direct linkage, and the throws are actually longer than on my M100, which I equipped with an Isuzu short shift kit as soon as I bought it. Hopefully a kit will become available for the "Toyota" Elise--since it certainly would be the first thing I would change on the car.

The shifter seemed foreward for my taste. i was in 4th and thought it was 3rd. You can't pull back and shift from 4th to 4th it don't work so goood!!
gotta love the fact 4th pulled car around no problem from low mph.

liked the shifter, the clutch not so much
The shifter seemed really well placed to me. The only stick shift I drive is an X-Type 3.0, and it has very long throws. And compared to my girlfriend's RSX-S, the throws are on par and even a little shorter. But the friction point on the clutch seems to be so far out, that it caught me by surprise. The RSX clutch has a very short movement and seems to engage right off the footwell; isnt there a more preferred clutch action? I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it...

A good short shifter/less sloppy shifter is needed ASAP. The shift action is worse than when I test drove the car. I'm wondering if a short shifter will make the shifts even more imprecise. I don't really mind the longer throws that much, I don't like the sloppiness. Definitely not in the league of the S2000/Miata shifters.

The throws are too long for me as well. We're working on one with a very reputable company. It is not going to be an easy solution. We hope to have it done mid-late 1Q05.

Sure hope it's B&M. They did a very nice job on the Mini Cooper part.
