Factory Applied Star Shield Clear Film
I know that the complete application,
somewhere around 9 pieces, goes for
approximately $950. Will they also only
do the front clam and if so at what cost?

Ask your dealer. This is a factory option, so it's probably all or none unless you want to wait longer and pay nearly as much money anyway.

After listening to others, coverage without star-shield will result in likely
multi area damage so I will go for the
whole system.

Cool :-) You had more time than I did to think about this. I hadn't even thought about it when my dealer called up and said okay, what options do you want?

Good for you! Others on Elisetalk who have the car without
the clear-film are reporting lots of damage from road debris being kicked up
into the front, top, and sides of the car.

How will star shield look on a black car? Does the film show more on dark cars?

I have seen the 3M one on a black car, it's actually less detectable than on a light color color. You kind of see the edge of it a little bit, but that is when you really pay attention to it.

:D I have about 30 seconds. They say they are ready to fax in the order as soon as my call is over.
I wonder how much it would cost if we do it aftermarket. I didn't know it was a "port" option (that's what my dealer calls it) and I was going to hand cut the 3M one and put it on myself.
FYI - Dealer says it's going to cost $995.

Don't know, to be honest. Good question though. I guess for me, it's a little late :-)
Regardless, it'll look better than a bunch of stone chips.

I have seen it on several colors including black and it is hardly noticeable. I would def get it. Dealers in my area dont even sell cars without it and happen to throw it in for free .
