Question Cleaning Xzilon paint protectant

I had my dealer install Xzilon protectant on the paint, glass and wheels. Having a hard time finding information on cleaning and maintenance products that are Xzilon friendly. Anyone have any experience with this product? The only thing I've found is a combo wax/cleaner on www,granitize.com,

all it is is a paint sealant. I would wax as usual. They say you dont need to but during my testing of this product it does not hold up.

Greetings! Noob to the site, but a veteran Xzilon user.

Please make sure you read and understand the Xzilon contract, maintenance tips and their sales brochures. You may even want to give their technical support a call (their toll free # is on the Granitize web site) to clarify any questions you have. Since they are the ones that have the liability in the contract, you should defer to their opinions, explanations and recommendations.

This is a great product IF AND ONLY IF you understand what your limitations are and how the product is meant to be used. I'll try to explain these based on my experiences with the product and based on my conversations with their tech support...

Intended Use (in laymens terms) - This product is intended to protect your clearcoat and paint finish, and produce a glossy surface finish. This protection is much like other sealants that we all are use to, ie, reduce damage by bird bombs, water spots, etc., as well as maintain beading for an extended period of time. The 5 year guarantee for new cars is not a guantee that the product will last 5 years, rather a guantee that you can have it applied free of charge, up to 5 years, if it gets damaged or stops doing what they promise.

Limitations (in laymens terms) - The contract states something like "...use of some compounds and polishes may damage the surface", and implies voiding the warranty. Fair enough. However, in speaking to their tech support they told me that application of any QD, wax, sealant, polish or compound WILL void the warranty. She also adamently indicated that the use of any orbital, buffer, or portal-cable would void the warranty. When I confronted my car dealer with this they agreed. BUT, no where can I find this wording in my contract, only slight references to this in some of the sales brochures.

I have 2 new cars this year, and I chose to put Xzilon on 1 but not the other. Here is my reasoning considering my intrepations of the contract and limitations...

-The car that I had it applied is my wife's daily driver and niether the car nor the paint job is real exciting, therefore, I am not interested in doing much in terms of waxing and sealants. I use the Xzilon Wash & Wax and take it back in for a reapp of Xzilon about every 6 months. Car looks good and the Xzilon is doing it's job. At one point, though, I did use a variety of products on this car (AIO, 4* UPP, Nattys-Blue) and they worked and looked really good. When I removed them the Xzilon stayed on the car (I can tell because I have a couple water spots that are solidified in the Xzilon). I applied everything by hand, no power tools. Today, this car is strickly Xzilon, and I am very happy with it.

-My car has a nice grey metallic finish that I spend lots of tiime on with various products enhancing and changing the looks. I did not want Xzilon on this car because I knew i was going to be using different sealants, waxes, etc, and even my porter-cable at some point.

My 2 cents, for what it's worth.

p.s. - being the curious sole that I am, I would like to try some dawn or vinegar to see if it removes the Xzilon. Using AIO didn't, and I haven't had any issues removing any wax or sealant previously with it. This Xzilon stuff is pretty tuff.

This product is a bust. They will not re-apply if they say they will stand there and see for yourself. Gloss, fading, even beading are not covered especially gloss it is not a polish it is a protect ant and they do not say anywhere it they do.

I have just finished dealing with the company who ever they are as their site is different for every product. I have been in the Aerospace Industry for 50 years and no one I know has ever heard of them. Not that they have not done some business with others but exactly what. Just like the INTERNET pyramid scam that has been going around for years that says' "See On The Today Show" so everyone believes it must have been good. Well yes it was seen on the Today Show but as Scams. This product is a protect ant for a protect ant "Clear Coat"? Then they say use this wax and promote two brands, yet we are told you never have to wax? Wax again is a protect ant and you get some shine but without buffing "a no no" only so so. So now you have three protect ants.

My Xzilon is failing big time, and they refuse to re-apply it. Saying it will lose some of its properties over the 5 years. The water not only does not bead it sits there and stares at you. I have to hustle when I wash it to get to the water before it spots and it does miserably.. The warranty only covers through damage to the paint or metal by the things it covers, like bird droppings, and sap. Ultraviolet ray damage is not covered as they will deny it can happen. The top of my car is lighter now as there is nothing left of this product. My Chrome rims were micro pitting in less than a year, without Chrome polish they would have been thrashed.

The interior that is the biggest hype of all, their product a scotch guard with a new name sucks. I used leather cleaner and softener almost immediately as a pen mark the day after I got it stayed and is still there. Its into the leather, so the protect ant did nothing.

And then there is the claim. Months can go buy in the meantime your car is not protected.

There are people selling kits on Ebay. The company said they are stolen and cannot do anything. That is such a lie. One guy has sold dozens of kits for almost 4 years now.. and if its theft wouldn't you think the company would say something to Ebay?

To many holes..for a lot of money...

Just My Opinion

Thank You

We read the Warranty

My wife recently bought a truck and we got the Xzilon hard sell from the finance guy. I'm not gullible enough to think that a wax job is going to last five years. However, I figured the warranty might be worth the price as the salesman said they would repaint the damage if lovebugs (we have a lot of that in Florida) pitted the paint or tree sap, etc.
However, if you read the warranty closely, it doesn't say they will repaint anything. It says they will DETAIL the damaged area to lessen the damage etc. Etc.

Long story short, We looked around and heard from nice folks in forums like this and realized you were getting a wax job and a snow job for $700. I cancelled that part of the contract and got a refund.

I bought the Xzilon exterior protectant off E-Bay for $15 and spend about an hour applying (it's actually easier to apply then wax) it. It looks great, especially for the time and money I spent on it.
