Porsche today announced it will launch the latest versions of the 911 Cabriolet, traditionally the most popular 911 model sold in America, in the first quarter of 2005.

Boring, dull styling. Porsche makes only one good looking car - the Carrera GT. (IMO, of course)

I think Crystal got lost on the way to the Porsche forum and thinks this (Lotus) Elise forum is for Porsches. Nice car but a lot different from what the Lotus crowd prefer!

There's room on this board to talk about other cars, especially in the "Off topic" forum. Keeps things interesting.

Those who like the 993's design will really enjoy the 997. And for those that don't, it's a disappointment. The 997 would have been my replacement for my Boxster had the Elise not come around and had Porsche not gone retro. Thank you Lotus!

I had read in some Porsche statement that the 997 was suppose to capture the hearts of those who wanted a 993 in the 90s but could not afford it at the time. Now that they're a bit older and supposedly wealthier, they have a chance to get their dream car to remind them "they've made it!"

I think the 996's design was compromised because people felt like it resembled the cheaper Boxster. Which leads to my gripe about Porsches today - too much image and with the exception of the GT3 and GT2, not enough emphasis on performance. If I wanted a luxury sports car, I'd buy a M, AMG, or Maserati - damn it! ;)
