SCCA Road Racing T1?

Anyone think that the Elise could be put in the T1 class?
That class is really a spec Corvette Z06 class.
They need the Elise in there.
I am interesed in racing the car I have a deposit on
in a 12 Hour Enduro at Summit Point WV maybe next
year. I think it would have an excellent chance to win.
Elise:
Lighter, better fuel economy (less stops), Toyota reliability, nimble to slice through the hords of spec Miatas and various IT cars, out of the box competitor, just add roll cage and hard top.

For the past few years, a Porsche GT3 has dominated the race. There is no one to push them. The Elise could.

The 2005 Lotus Elise has been classed in T1

Here's a link to the Feb Fastrack (page 11)
Feb Fastrack

Lotus US worked hard with the SCCA to make sure that the Elise would be classed this year. T1 is a tough class but I certainly thin the Elise will be competitive.

Let us know how you do.

Mason

I love the elise and cant wait to get mine but I dont think the Elise is going to be able to compete with the GT3, Viper SRT10 or the Z06 in T1. They are going to be tough to beat in the elise.

I have to agree with boyracer. I believe we can out handle them in the corners, fuel eficiency is ours, hopefully reliability as well, but when it comes to the straight aways I think we're slightly out classed and I'm not sure all the other positives can make up for that. It will be damn fun trying though.

Huntingridge Motors in New York has 2 T1 prepped cars that aren't street legal that I'm considering buying. Apperantly these cars can be competative but I might start from scratch and buy a new car and spec it out myself. The one thing for sure is that I am going to race an elise. I've checked different sanctioning boards and so far the only thing I've found is NASA's unlimited class which probably wouldn't be fair. As far as T1 is concerend, any tracks that have more turns than straits the elise is going to give them a run. Z06's are good, but not that good.

I was running my car in Raod America on several track days and the Z06 past me on any straight as if I was standing still. In the corners or in braking areas it was a different story. Passing was not possible. The T1 is not the correct group for the car

I just heard that they're probably putting the elise in t2 this year, which would be good news for me.
