Has anyone tried a 205 front yet?
I have an LSS car coming and want to explore other tire options--I am sure I will be replacing them often. I have also found the Yoko R-compunds in the past to be less sticky than the competition. There are so many good tires out there that I am hoping will fit. It seems that the 195 front is nearly impossible to find outside of OEM.
I know there are only a few cars out there and fewer being tracked, but I hope that someone else has begun to research this.
TIA,
jjb

If you'll be doing lots of track stuff and don't have to stay stock you may wish to consider going to 15 front 16 rear. Lighter wheels and it's what the Engineers felt the car needed. Marketing prevailed though. There are more options for the Elise in 15/16 than 16/17 at the moment.

I'm going to try it...
... this week I'll be test-fitting a bunch of setups.
Including 215F and 235R on an Elise.
We'll see if there are any issues...

Guess I should have posted an update in this thread.
I've now been running 215 front, 235 rear with no issues for 9 months.
Kinesis K58.
Pic is pre-brake-upgrade:

Car has 2800 miles, was delivered 12/4/04, and is pretty much a track toy... with a few street miles here and there.

What are the rim diameters and widths?
Where did you buy them?

Ordered them from Alan at Kinesis. I looked at Fikse, HRE, and Kinesis, and only Kinesis could build what I wanted. Fikse still has not built a set of wheels for an Elise/Exige. Just call up Kinesis, ask for Alan, and he'll be able to build whatever you want in 60 days or so.
6.5" front, 7.5" rear

Hello,
Here is a link to more pics and info:
http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...7818&members=1
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. We were out doing some track testing with the new wheels and were trying different tire combinations. So far we found the car to perform best with Toyo RA1's 235/40/17 in the front and 245/40/18 in the back. We tested some other tires as well, Hoosier, and Yokohama but in our opinion the Toyo had the best all around performance. With the 275/35/18's in the rear we found that the car understeered and did not want to rotate so we would not recommend going with that size unless your Lotus is making some serious horsepower or you are not too concerned with performance but rather astetics. We are currently offering the wheels at an introductory price of $2485. If you would like a wheel and tire package please specify which brand and sizes you would like. The front wheels will fit anywhere from a 205-235 and the rear wheels will fit anything from a 225-275. We recommed to keep the difference in width between the rear tires and the front tires to no more than 20mm if you want to optimize the handling of your Lotus as the car has a tendency to understeer with bigger spreads. Please feel free to email ebargainllc@yahoo.com or call anytime if you have any further questions.

Curruntly using Hankook 205/50/15 on the front on 15x7 rims. They work fine.
