Exige S with R15 and R16? Is it possible?

Hello,

This is my first post I hope somebody can help me ?
I just ordered the exige S, however due to the road conditions where I wil be using the car (Mexico City or Mexican Highways), I would like to reduce.... the Rim size from 16" and 17" with 15" and 16". I know most post are regarding increasing the rim size, but the roads here in mexico..... are terrible.
Somebody know if there I enough space for the 15" in the from with the 282 mm brakes and the caliper?

I also asked Tire Rack if they have the following Wheels:
PCD 4x100
Center bore 56.6

Size FRONT: 15x6.5J
Offset FRONT: ET31

Size REAR: 16x7.5J
Offset REAR: ET18

1) Are the wheel measures correct? Do you know where I can find them?

2) The tires I was thinking where 195/55 R15 for the front and 225/ for the rear. Are they the correct size, a bit smaller but OK?

Muchas Gracias o Grazie Mille

Andrea

Andrea,

I spent a month in Mexico City in the early 90's and found most roads no worse than the winter ravaged roads of Pennsylvania. I have a standard Exige that does fairly well on our roads (my run flat tires on my Odyssey are often worse). I do try and avoid the worst roads though. The other issue is ride height. I don't know if 15 inches would lower it further but that could prove to be a problem. I think the real fun will be taking it to Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

I actually drove the exige S around 100 miles the exige s demo at the dealer. I was happily surprised that the suspension- tire set up was OK for Mexico street even ground clearance was acceptable. I will stick with the original Set UP

I think it is a good idea to go with 'inch-down' wheels when road conditions are poor. The added benefit is a lighter weight wheel. We have SJ Racing wheels in these sizes. They are a perfect fit for your Exige. Since they are forged, they are extra strong for the rough roads you face.
