Elise Wheel FAQ Added

I've put together a preliminary Wheel FAQ for the US spec Lotus Elise. It includes sizes, offsets, weights and images of the available US Elise wheels. I also started to put together a list of aftermarket wheel choices.

It can be found here:
Lotus Elise Wheel FAQ

If you have any other wheels you’d like added to the FAQ please email me with the information or post it here.

Extra set of wheels & tires

I was considering ordering my car with the sport package and then buying the standard wheel/tire set up separately.

I would change the set to sport for autocrossing and back for street to attempt to get the best of both worlds, and to not wear out the racing tires in my street driving.

My question is: by buying the car set up for the sport package would I have to do anything other than a wheel/tire change to get the standard wheels and tires to work properly on the vehicle? Would differences in camber, etc. settings create any problems? Are there other problems of which I need be aware?

I am hoping to get a quick response because I have to finalize my order with my dealer tomorrow. Thanks!

What would the wheel centerbore (hub) be on the Elise?
Would hub extenders be required to fit support hub centric alternative wheels?

Wheel type question

I am buying a (slightly) used 2005 Elise with what the forum describes as 'Exige S2' wheels on it, and as the wheels FAQ is broken, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows how they compare to the Sport Package wheels you would expect would have come on it. Also, are these wheel a regular production option?

Does anyone know the weights of the OZ wheels available from Lotus Sport? Are these wheels suitable for road use? Thanks.

Exclamation Sport Tires/Wheels on standard car? Careful!!

Just like some of you, I've been looking at putting some better rims and the Yoko 048's on my standard suspension Elise. I finally met someone at the track that had done just that. He cautioned that both front and rear had to be completely re-aligned and small rubber blocks added to the rear springs. Don't do these items and get ready for as he described it "visious" oversteer on the track. He should know - he's raced all kinds of vehicles for years. I'm still looking for some better rubber for the standard rims - any ideas?

Alex can you get American Racing to make some Dale Jr. Cannons for the Elise? I really like the machined look on black rims.

I will pass on the request, but we're having enough issues getting our 1st orderer of DEJ wheels. The more interest in the wheel style the more likley they will be made.

Who else is interested in the DEJ style of wheels for Elise? We can use this thread as a gauge.
