Lotus Cars USA Inc. said it will become the title sponsor of the Lotus Challenge Series.
Lotus Cars spokesman Kevin Smith would not say how much money the company is giving the race series, but said it will go toward areas such as logistics support, track rentals and awards.
"We have an increasing number of some of our most enthusiastic and loyal Lotus customers participating n the Lotus Challenge Series, and this is one of our ways of showing them how much we appreciate them," Smith said.

If any of us lost 57 pounds, we'd be faster, too. And more fun.
Lotus took the almost-weightless Exige S 240 (2,077 pounds) and trimmed some fat to make the Exige S 260 Sport.
Specifically, engineers replaced the composite front lower splitter, the front access panels at the base of the windshield, the roof, the rear engine cover, the side air intake ducts and the rear wing with identical pieces made from carbon fiber. The seats also are carbon fiber. Lotus recieves Dewar Trophy
Apr 15, 2009 - 6:55 AM - by gnatster
The new Lotus Evora that's debuting this spring is the first product built on the British automaker's new Versatile Vehicle Architecture. The VVA builds on what Lotus learned from developing the Elise and its derivatives, including working with aluminum extrusions and industrial bonding. The modular system allows Lotus to create a wide variety of low volume vehicles from similar componentry at comparatively low cost.

As a result of this work, Lotus has been awarded the 2008 Dewar Trophy for technical excellence. The trophy is awarded annually by the Royal Automobile Club in the UK for outstanding efforts in automotive engineering.

Federalized US Lotus Elise

In the summer of 2004 Lotus cars U.S. introduced the highly anticipated entry into the two seater sports car market. The car was a federalized version of its popular convertible previously only available in the UK; the 2005 U.S. Elise.

This American version boasts an amazing road handling grip of over 1.0G, a sub 5 second 0-60, a top speed of 150 mph and twin piston front brakes quickly stop an ultra-light curb weight of less than 2000 lbs. The entire chassis is light weight hydro formed aluminum, the body is an aerodynamically shaped composite and the motor is an ultra high revving power-plant from Toyota producing over 100 horsepower per liter. All of this performance for a class leading price of around $40,000.
